Create and manage class templates

Build a recurring class template, edit it, and generate the sessions it will produce on your schedule.

Class templates define the recurring pattern for a class — what time it runs, which days, who teaches it, and how many members can attend. Once a template exists, you generate sessions from it to populate the calendar.

Create a template

  1. Go to Classes in the sidebar, then select Templates from the sub-navigation.
  2. Select New Template in the top-right. The New Template drawer opens.
  3. Under Basic Info, enter a Template name (for example, Morning Fundamentals) and choose a Program.
  4. Under Schedule, tick the Days of week the class runs, then set Start time and End time. Optionally choose a Location.
  5. Under Instructors, choose a Primary Instructor. You can also choose an Assistant Instructor (optional but recommended — see colour indicators below).
  6. Under Capacity, enter Max capacity and toggle Waitlist or Booking required if needed.
  7. Under Settings, toggle Public if this class should appear on your public schedule. Adjust Check-in window (min) and Late cutoff (min) if your defaults don't suit this class.
  8. Select Create Template.

Understand coverage colour indicators

Each template card shows a coloured left border:

  • Green — primary and assistant instructor both assigned.
  • Amber — primary instructor assigned, no assistant.
  • Red — no instructor assigned. The summary cards at the top of the page count how many templates have no instructor (No Instructor) or no assistant (No Assistant).

Assign instructors before generating sessions so coverage is clear on the schedule.

Edit an existing template

  1. Select any template card. The Edit: [template name] drawer opens.
  2. Change any fields you need, then select Save Changes.

Changes to a template do not automatically update sessions already generated — they apply to the next batch you generate.

Generate sessions from a template

Templates don't appear on the calendar until you generate sessions from them.

  1. Select Generate Sessions in the top-right.
  2. In the Generate Sessions dialog, choose the Template (or leave blank to generate from all templates).
  3. Set From date and To date. A preview shows how many sessions will be created.
  4. Select Generate. Sessions appear on the schedule immediately.

Generate a new batch whenever you need to extend the calendar — for example, at the start of each term or month.
