Set up and enable a kiosk

Configure a PIN, idle timeout, and lock screen message so a shared device can serve as a self check-in kiosk.

Kiosk mode lets a shared tablet or computer act as a self check-in station. Members tap their name to check themselves in to a class without needing a staff account. A PIN locks the kiosk so members cannot navigate away to the rest of the admin portal.

Configure kiosk settings

  1. Go to Settings in the sidebar, then select Kiosk Settings.
  2. Configure the options below.
  3. Select Save settings when finished.

Set a kiosk PIN

The PIN is a 4-digit number staff use to exit kiosk mode (for example, to get back to the dashboard). Without a PIN, anyone at the kiosk can navigate away.

  1. In the Kiosk PIN card, enter a 4-digit numeric PIN in the PIN field. A show/hide toggle lets you confirm the digits.
  2. The badge next to the field shows Configured when a PIN is already saved, or Not configured when no PIN is set.
  3. To remove the PIN entirely, tick Remove the PIN and disable kiosk mode (visible only when a PIN is already set).

Set the idle timeout

Session timeout controls how long the kiosk screen is idle before it auto-locks. Choose from 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, or 30 minutes. When the kiosk locks, the lock screen message is displayed and members must tap to resume — staff enter the PIN to exit kiosk mode.

Set the kiosk session duration

Kiosk session duration is separate from the idle timeout. It controls how long the device stays signed in as a kiosk before staff must re-authenticate. Choose 12 hours, 24 hours, or 48 hours (max). This is a security boundary — when the session expires the device returns to the sign-in screen.

Show grading progress

Tick Show grading progress in kiosk mode to display a member's belt and grading progress after they check in. This is off by default — many gyms prefer not to display grading publicly on a shared screen.

Set a lock screen message

In the Lock screen message card, enter the text displayed on the kiosk when it is idle or locked (for example, Tap to check in). Maximum 255 characters.

Open the kiosk

Once settings are saved, go to Check-in in the sidebar. The check-in screen operates in normal staff mode by default. To switch to kiosk mode, select the Kiosk button in the top-right of the check-in screen. The screen switches to the self-service view.

Members search for their name or scroll the list to find themselves, then select their session to check in. If they are eligible (green status), check-in confirms automatically. If there is a waiver or eligibility issue, the kiosk prompts them to speak to a staff member.

Exit kiosk mode

On the kiosk screen, look for the lock icon or exit affordance and enter the 4-digit PIN when prompted. The screen returns to the normal check-in view.

Recommended setup

For a dedicated kiosk device:

  • Use a tablet mounted at the front desk or gym entrance.
  • Open the check-in screen and switch to kiosk mode at the start of each day.
  • Set the idle timeout to 5 or 10 minutes so the device locks quickly when not in use.
  • Set the kiosk session duration to 24 or 48 hours so staff do not need to re-authenticate mid-day.
