Configure notifications and SMS delivery

Enable email and SMS channels, set your from-identity, customise per-type routing, manage suppressions, and monitor delivery health.

Base Control sends notifications to members by email and optionally by SMS. Before messages reach members, you need to configure which channels are on, what sender identity appears, and how different message types route.

Go to Settings in the sidebar, then select Notifications. The page opens on the Channels tab.

Enable or disable channels

In the Channels card:

  • Use the Email toggle to enable or disable email delivery for all notifications.
  • Use the SMS toggle to enable or disable SMS delivery. SMS messages use your prepaid SMS wallet; charges apply per segment.

Turning a channel off here affects all message types that follow the default routing. Per-type overrides (see below) are adjusted automatically — SMS routing is stripped from any override when SMS is turned off in the same save.

Configure SMS sender identity

When SMS is enabled, a SMS sender identity card appears.

  1. Enter an SMS sender ID — either:
    • An alphanumeric name up to 11 characters (letters, digits, and spaces), for example FlyingSqrl.
    • An E.164 longcode phone number (your gym's mobile number in international +61 format).
  2. Select Save changes.

The sender ID is what members see as the SMS sender on their phone. Note: Australia's ACMA Sender ID Register applies from 1 July 2026 — ensure your sender ID is registered if required.

Set your from-identity (email sender name and address)

In the From identity card, set:

  • From name — the display name shown in email clients (for example, Flying Squirrel BJJ).
  • From email — the reply-to address for outgoing email (an address on your gym's own domain).

Select Save changes to apply.

Customise per-type routing

By default, every message type follows whichever channels are enabled. You can override specific types to control exactly how they are delivered.

In the Per-type routing card, message types are grouped by category. For each type:

  • Types showing Default (follows enabled channels) send using the globally enabled channels.
  • Select Customize to set an explicit channel for that type. Tick Email and/or SMS to control delivery.
  • To revert to the global setting, select Use default.

Select Save changes when finished.

Manage suppressions

The Suppression tab shows email addresses and phone numbers that are blocked from receiving notifications. Suppressions are created automatically when a message bounces or a member unsubscribes, and can also be added manually.

To add a suppression manually:

  1. Select the Suppression tab.
  2. Select Add suppression.
  3. Enter the full email address or E.164 phone number.
  4. Choose the Channel (email or SMS) and Scope (all notifications, or marketing only).
  5. Optionally add a Reason note.
  6. Select Add.

To remove a suppression, locate the row and select Remove. The address becomes eligible for delivery again immediately.

To search for a specific address, enter the full address in the search box. Search is exact-match — partial addresses will not return results.

Monitor delivery health

The Delivery tab shows SMS and email delivery health over a selected time window. It is read-only and displays aggregated counts (delivered, failed, bounced) and recent failure details.

Email delivery addresses are masked (for example, a***@e***.com) in the delivery log for privacy.

View SMS wallet balance

The Wallet tab shows the current prepaid SMS wallet balance, per-send usage, and transaction history. Top-up is managed through your account billing.

View notification history

The History tab shows a log of all notification dispatch events across all channels. Use it to verify that a specific message was sent and to see its delivery outcome.
